Running with the Bulls!!

November 30, 2011 Leave a comment

The Chicago Bulls are back and ready to take the court Christmas day against the Los Angeles Lakers.  I don’t know about anybody else, but I wasn’t too worried about missing the season since I still have fantasy football, and the Blackhawks to watch.  I knew the Players and owners were far apart in negotiations, so I wasn’t giving my hopes up for having a season.  Since the deal is reached I couldn’t be anymore excited for the Basketball season to start, and fantasy basketball to begin.

Derrick Rose won’t have to miss a year of his prime now that the lockout is over, and that only benefits the Bulls.  The Bulls come in the second favorites to win the NBA Championship only below the hated Miami Heat.  Free agency is set to begin soon later this week, and everybody will be watching to see what the Bulls do to address the shooting guard position.  I actually like having the rotation of Kyle Korver, Keith Bogans, and Ronnie Brewer, call me crazy but I actually think it worked to our benefit.  Most of the free agents such as Jamal Crawford, O.J. Mayo, and Aaron Afflalo don’t play defense like Bogans, and Brewer do, where they play both ways.  I say keep it the way it is and let the bench mob play out the year, without bringing in some offensive minded ball hog.

I will be putting up the 2011-12 Fantasy Basketball rankings up soon, and will be talking about whether Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, or Carlos Pena are the better fit for the Cubs at first base.

Week 8 NFL Start Em Sit Em

Teams on Bye: Falcons, Bears, Packers, Jets, Raiders, Bucs

Start Em-

Eli Manning- Manning is going up against the worst team in the league in the Rams, he should be able to carve up the defense all day in the Meadowlands.

Ryan Fitzpatrick- Fitzpatrick just inked a nice new long-term deal to be the Bills Quarterback of the future, he goes up against the Redskins this week, I think he’ll show why he’s the Qb of the future.

Andy Dalton– Dalton has probably been the 2nd best Quarterback to come out of the draft this year so far behind Cam Newton.  He has surprised everybody with his presence in the pocket, and his accuracy.  Seahawks have a good defense but I think with Benson out, Dalton will be on leaned on a little more.

Ben Roethlisberger- When the Steelers and Patriots go up together, it’s more times than not going to be a shootout.  Last year both Brady and Roethlisberger put up huge numbers when they played each other, I see this game being no different.

Sit Em-

Alex Smith– Smith has been playing good at home lately, especially the game against the Bucs.  Joe Haden is healthy for the Browns so that isn’t a good matchup for top receiver Crabtree, I expect the 49ers to lean on Gore in this game, while Smith will only throw for 1 TD.

Tim Tebow-  He keeps on showing to me why he isn’t a good QB at all, many people thinks he’s so great because of the comeback win last week against the Dolphins.  He only threw for over 100 yards, but ran for 50, this week against the Lions he should get a wake up call to why he isn’t a Quarterback in the NFL.

Christian Ponder- If your thinking about starting Ponder this week after his showing last week against the Packers, I wouldn’t expect the same numbers in this one.  The Vikes are probably going to give a heavy dose of AP to the Panthers in Carolina.

Running Backs

Start Em-

Chris Johnson- If this isn’t the week that CJ2k breaks out, then I don’t know what week it will be.  If he cannot have a great day against the terrible Colts Defense I have no hope for him for the rest of the season.

Frank Gore- Gore is going to have a huge day against the Browns this week, he has been playing lights out lately after getting off to a slow start, I expect 125+ in this one.

Jackie Battle- I like Battle again this week, as he seems to be the featured back for the Chiefs up against a weak run D in the Chargers.  I expect this game to be high scoring through out and Battle to get his share of touches and yards.

Pierre Thomas- The Saints are going to do what they did last week, this week against the Rams.  With Mark Ingram out, Sproles and Thomas’s carries and touches should rise even more.  Both of them should easily be in double digits at the end of this game.

Sit Em

Knowshon Moreno- McGahee is going to be out this week, so Moreno finally has a shot to get his job back for once.  Lance Ball is behind him though, where John Fox does like him.  Don’t expect too much out of Moreno here against a good Lions Defense.

DeAngelo Williams- Stewart has been getting more and more goal line carries and more touches than DeAngelo Williams.  The Vikes have been up and down this year on Defense, I expect Stew to find the end zone over Williams.

Montario Hardesty- If Hillis can’t go on Sunday, Hardesty would be in the place for him.  I wouldn’t expect much from either if Hillis was starting anyways, the 49ers have been great when it comes to stopping the run.

Wide Receivers

Start Em-

Anquan Boldin- Boldin has been on a roll lately, and you have to ride him while he is hot.  Until then keep him In your lineups.

Antonio Brown- Brown has been getting his share of targets, getting close to Mike Wallace for them.  I expect Brown to have a big game in a shootout with a suspect Patriots Defense.

Mario Manningham- Manningham is due for a good game, especially against the Dolphins this week.  I expect him to get near 100 yards receiving and a TD.

Sit Em-

Brandon Lloyd- The thing is the Rams will be throwing a lot since they will be down big against the Saints early this week.  Bradford is ruled out already with Feeley slated to get the start, Sit Lloyd.

Michael Jenkins- Don’t let last weeks game fool you, Jenkins isn’t that great of a receiver for him to be in your lineups this week against the Panthers.

Reggie Wayne- There is nothing Wayne owners can do but sit him now until a miracle of Peyton Manning coming back happens.  Owners knew had a risk coming into the season, and are paying for the repercussions.

Dolphins @ Giants

Jaguars @ Texans

Cardinals @ Ravens

Vikings @ Panthers

Colts @ Titans

Week 6 Start/Sit em, Predictions

October 16, 2011 Leave a comment

It has been a while since I posted, been busy with work and School.  Time to get back in the routine and post some good stuff here at windy city dynasty.

Week 6 Start em, Sit em

Start Em

Start Em

Tony Romo- Romo should be up for a huge game today against a Patriots defense that has allowed the most points in the league.  I would look for this game to be a shootout, since the Patriots score at will, and the Cowboys will have to be forced to throw.

Eli Manning- Eli threw for over 400 yards last week against a decent Seahawks defense, but also threw for 3 INT’s.  He still was able to put up a monster performance despite the picks, I look for him to bounce back this week against the Bills.

Andy Dalton- Any quarterback who goes against the Colts should be automatically inserted into your lineup to start.  Matt Cassel torched them last week, and I look for Dalton to do the same this week.

Colt Mccoy- I have Mccoy starting this week in my league in place of Rives, I like the matchup against the Raiders who are in a spot for let down in Oakland.  They are coming off an emotional win in Houston, I think they might be looking past the Browns.

Sit Em

Matt Schaub- Schaub has never had really great success against the Ravens, and I don’t expect him to change that trend today.  Andre Johnson is gonna be out again, leaving him with only decent receiver’s and against the best D in the league I’d look for other options.

Curtis Painter- Don’t let his numbers fool you this year, Curtis Painter is not a good quarterback, no where near what Peyton Manning is.  I think he is due for a reality check today against the Bengals.

Josh Freeman- I would probably start Freeman on the fact that I said to start him last week, and he put up one of the worst weeks this year by a quarterback.  He is going up against the Saints today at home, I don’t expect him to put up those numbers he did last week, but he is still a risky play at this poing.

Mark Sanchez- The Jets passing game is out of whack, ever since the receivers called a meeting to try to get in the game plan more.  Shonn Greene is coming off his best game of the year last week against the Pats, and I expect him and LT to get a lot of carries against the Dolphins.

Running Backs

Start Em

James Starks/ Ryan Grant- The Packers should be able to get up by a lot early in this game, for them just to lean on the run game.  Starks is probably more in line for more carries, but Grant should get his fair share.  I would start both today, for them being able to both put up double digits.

Mark Ingram- He was on my start em last week, and was able to get into the end zone against the Panthers.  This week he is going up against a Bucaneers defense that got bulldozed by Frank Gore last week.

Peyton Hillis- He is going to have the best game for a RB this week, against the Raiders, he will be fed the ball a lot, and catching out of the backfield.  Look for a MONSTER performance.

Felix Jones- Jones should be able to find some holes against the Pats D, as Shonn Greene dominated them last week, also look for Jones to have a big game in receiving today also.

Earnest Graham- Graham should have a big game all around today, with LeGarrete Blount out today, Graham should get his share of carries, and receptions to put up a big game.

Sit Em

Benjarvus Green-Ellis- I had him last week in my start em and he put up the best performance of his career.  This week he was on the injury list which came out of no where, and he has to go up against the Cowboys defense who is giving up the least rushing yards in the league.

Arian Foster- Foster is not going to be sit today in most leagues, due to the fact that he was taken high in many drafts.  I do not trust the Texans offense today against the Ravens defense, if you have better options put them in for Foster.

Jahvid Best- Last week’s fluke game against the Bears shouldn’t be overlooked here going up against the 49ers.  He was able to break off two long runs last Monday night, on busted assignments by the Bears.  If it wasn’t for those two plays he would of had a terrible game, sit him this week.

Reggie Bush- Bush is going to get some looks in the slot against the Jets this week, I have to much confidence in the Jets d to start Reggie Bush this week.

Wide Receivers

Start Em

A.J. Green-  He was one of my starts last week, and was able to come down with a TD grab.  I like him this week against a depleted Colts defense.

Antonio Brown- I’m going on a hunch here saying that Brown is probably going to have the best game as a Steelers receiver today against the Jaguars.  I think the depth of the Jags Corners aren’t that good, and I’ll look for Brown to be able to torch them down the field.

Dez Bryant- Bryant is a must start today against the Patriots which looks like it could head towards a shootout.  Romo should be able to hook up with him numerous times today, and could haul in a couple TD passes.

James Jones- With Greg Jennings on the injury report, they might keep Jennings limited against the Rams, which they probably will beat them within the first 10 minutes of the game.  I’d look for increased snaps for Jones and Nelson today.

Sit Em

Heyward Bay/ Moore- Both these Raiders receivers should be sat today against a good Browns passing defense.  I am expecting the let down today against them, and am not expecting much out of the Raiders.

Kevin Walter- Walter put up a good game last week against the Raiders in the absence of Andre Johnson.  Look for the Ravens to key up on him this week, and to shut him down.

Pierre Garcon- Garcon was in my sit last week, and he rattled of another huge game for the second straight week.  This might comeback to haunt me again, but I suspect the Bengals will keep an eye on him so he doesn’t have another big game.

Weekend Recap

October 10, 2011 Leave a comment

This weekend we saw a lot of action in sport’s and I will try to get an overview on what happened this Columbus Day weekend.

Fantasy NFL

Victor Cruz- If it wasn’t for the miraculous one-handed tipped ball he caught for a long touchdown he wouldn’t have had such eye-popping numbers, but because of the catch he had a great fantasy day for owners who were brave enough to start him.

Benjarvus Green-Ellis- Who saw this day coming? Not many people would’ve predicted that Green-Ellis would rush for 136 yards and 2 TD’s especially when most thought Stevan Ridley would steal some looks from him.

Ben Roethlisberger- Seemingly playing on a bad right ankle, Ben still was able to throw for 5 TD’s against a good Titans defense, we knew Ben was great, but this performance was on another level.

Jimmy Graham-  This man is a match-up nightmare for defenses with his size and athleticism, reminds me of a lankier Tony Gonzalez.  He is probably the best tight end in the game right now, and many people don’t even know about him.

Philip Rivers- Rivers continues to let down fantasy owners who most likely spent a high draft pick on him expecting high yardage games, and lots of TD’s.  Rivers has been nothing but mediocre, and he should have had better numbers than 250 pass yards, and a touchdown against the Broncos.

Josh Freeman- Probably the worst performance of his career, throwing for only 187 yards and 2 interceptions.  In my league he only put up a whopping 3 points, which is an awful day for many who thought he was going to be a top 10 QB by the end of the year.

Isaac Redman- Many thought he was slated to have a huge game with Rashard Mendenhall out against the Titans, but it was Jonathan Dwyer who took the spotlight from Redman who rushed for 107 yards, to Redman’s 49 yards.

Darren McFadden- Only 51 rushing yards against the Texans defense is a shocker to most McFadden owners, he looked like he could run all over any defense he goes against.

Larry Fitzgerald- In a ppr league Fitz had a 10 point game, which is alright but most would think he would be able to put up more against a Vikings defense, especially when they were getting blown out most of the game.

Dallas Clark- Clark was featured in my Sit Em this week, and proved me right.  He had only 1 catch for 7 yards, showing how much of a difference Peyton Manning makes on his favorite Tight End.

– My worst nightmare just keeps getting worse and worse every time I see the Brewers and Cards play.  Last night was no exception when I saw the Brewers just pile on the Home runs against the Cardinals and Jaime Garcia.  I would love the Brewers to get out of the Playoffs already so that the Cubs can focus on getting Prince Fielder for next year.  For now I’m going to have to live through another Wisconsin team going deep into the playoffs. Oh joy…

– The Rangers took game 1 against the Tigers in a boring rain delayed game, that most probably didn’t bother watching on Saturday night.  C.J. Wilson came back after the long rain delay then started getting rocked by the Tigers, then another rain delay ensued and Alexi Ogando came in a shut the door on the Tigers,  Going up 1-0, with Game 2 tonight in Arlington.

– The Blackhawks split the season opening home and home against the Dallas stars Friday and Saturday night.  They lost Friday 2-1, Nick Leddy scored the only Hawks goal with only 13 seconds left in the 3rd period, they had there scoring chances on Friday but they couldn’t seem to find the back of the net.  Saturday with the return of Dave Bolland, the Hawks were played some inspired hockey in front of the United Center crowd.  Bolland (2), Toews, Brunette, and Sharp all scored in the 5-2 win against the Stars backup goalie Andrew Raycroft.  Their next scheduled game is Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets formally known as the Atlanta Thrashers.

NFL Week 5 Start Em/Sit Em

October 8, 2011 Leave a comment

I’m going to try to keep this up every week, showing you my choices of upcoming weeks on who you should start or sit if you have any lineup decision’s to make before Sunday.  I usually have my own problems to try to solve with my team, so I believe many of you have the same problem, and that’s why I am here to help.

I’m not going to be saying to start or sit players like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Calvin Johnson, Matt Forte, etc.  Those are usually no brainer starts, unless they of course are injured, or a game time decision leading up to their games.  So let’s get started for this week’s Start em, Sit em for Week 5.

Week 5 Team’s on Byes: Ravens, Browns, Cowboys, Dolphins, Rams, Redskins

Start em

Cam Newton- He is fastly becoming a must start every week and this week is no different as he goes up against the New Orleans Saints, the Saints d has a decent secondary, but they did let up 373 yards to Matt Schaub in week 3.  I see no reason why Newton can’t put up 20+ in every scoring league, essentially this game looks to be high scoring.

Mark Sanchez- The Patriots are giving up the most passing yards allowed in the league this year, mostly due to the fact that Tom Brady and co. are scoring at will, that means most teams are either down, or in a shootout.  Thos bodes well for Sanchez and the Jets receivers this week, likely leaning on the pass game this week.

Kevin Kolb- Kolb and Fitzgerald should hook up a lot this week in Minnesota, the Vikes are the 5th worst in passing yards allowed, as their run D has been one of the most solid in the league.  Beanie Wells is questionable, as he was last week, but this week I have a feeling Kolb will be throwing much more than he did last week.

Josh Freeman- He has gotten off to a slow start this year throwing only 3 touchdowns, and 4 int’s.  This week he has a juicy matchup against the 49ers who don’t have a great secondary, look for Freeman to throw all over the 49ers and put up a good week.

Sit Em

Ryan Fitzpatrick- I know a lot of people have been suprised of Fitzpatrick’s start to the year, throwing for 9 td’s and only 3 int’s thus far.  This week against the so-called “Dream Teams” defense, I don’t like the matchup for him.  I can see him throwing for a couple of scores, but don’t be looking for a ton of yardage.

Jay Cutler–  The Bears offensive line is gonna be a mess I believe in this game against Detroit.  If Nick Fairley does make his debut, this is an even worse matchup for Cutler.  Look for him to check down a lot to Forte, and maybe look Roy Williams way a lot in his Detroit return.  Don’t expect to much else from Cutler this Monday Night.

Matt Hasselbeck- Being a surprise so far for the Titans, Hasselbeck has been able to throw close to 1200 yards, and 8 td’s.  This week he is up against the Steel Curtain in Pittsburgh, that should be enough reason not to start him, along with Kenny Britt being out for the season.

Running Backs

Start Em

Mark Ingram- Myself an owner of Ingram, I am starting him along with Beanie, he is due for a big game against the Panthers who have the worst Run D in the league.  Matt Forte ran for 200+ last week, and I look for the Saints to have a steady dose of run here even with the sharing with Thomas and Sproles.

Joseph Addai- Curtis Painter isn’t that great as most people would know, and with the Chiefs coming in not being good at all vs the run, I can see Addai catching the ball out of the backfield, and being able to rush for at least 75 or more.

BJGE and Stevan Ridley- Look for both of these guys to have a good week, I have both of them on my bench this week starting Beanie and Ingram instead, I might get burned by it since the Pats could get up big on the Jets and run the ball.  The Jets run d this year has been terrible this year, and you never know what coach B has in mind for the Pats.

Cedric Benson-the Jaguars are in the middle of the back when it comes to stopping the run this year, I believe Dalton will be able to get the passing game going enough to open up some holes for Benson.

Sit em

James Starks- Ryan Grant returns this week as being listed as probable to go against the Falcons.  He will definitely take some touches away from Starks, after having a good game against the Bears in week 3 before getting hurt.  Starks caught 5 balls for 38 yards last week, adding 63 rushing against the Broncos.  Granite the Broncos have a good rushing D, the Falcons are even better.  I’d look for better options if you have them.

Willis McGahee- Willis rushed for 103 yards against the Packers last week without having competition from Knowshon Moreno for carries, while he was still healing somewhat from his hamstring injury.  The Broncos take on the Chargers this week, where I think the Chargers are gonna be up big pretty quickly.  Look for Moreno to get more carries this week if McGahee doesn’t produce early, and for the Broncos to be throwing through out.

DeAngelo Williams-  DeAngelo is coming off a 10 rush 82 yard game against the Bears, which is decent for him since he only rushed for a combine 61 yards the previous 3 games.  I see the Panthers going to the air more than the rush this week against the Saints who are more susceptible through the air.  Look for Jonathan Stewart to get a touchdown this week over DeAngelo, and be used more in the passing game.

Wide Receivers
Start Em

Mike Williams (TB)-  Mike Williams hasn’t really gotten off to the best start most fantasy owners thought he would by now, but I think this is the week he has a big game.  The Bucs are most likely going to have to rely on the passing game to move the ball, and Freeman will look for Williams enough times for him to have a big day.

Santonio Holmes/ Plaxico Burress- The Patriots pass defense should be enough to start both of these guys this Sunday.  Burress and Holmes both had 33 reception yards a piece last week, as the Ravens dominated that game on Defense.  Here though were talking about the Patriots D, with the Patriots offense going to be able to score at will.  So look for both of these guys to have solid games.

A.J. Green- Green is coming off another good performance as an NFL Rookie with a 4 reception 118 yard game against the Bills.  Green should be able to get open against the Jaguars this week in Jacksonville, look for him to score this week also.

Jeremy Maclin- Maclin should be in line for a huge game this week against the Buffalo Bills who have given up 1100 passing yard so far this year.  I like all the Eagles players in this one, as their going to have something to prove against the Bills this Sunday.

Sit Em

Nate Washington- Many people who lost Kenny Britt may have picked up Washington as a replacement, this week doesn’t look to good for him.  A matchup with the Steelers doesn’t bode well for Nate, as he was only able to produce 2 rec for 62 yards last week against the Browns.

Eric Decker- Decker has been on a tear lately, catching 2 td’s last week against the Packers.  I know many people are high on him, and so am I, he’s just due for a let down this week against a good pass d in the Chargers.  He might be able to put up around 50 or 60 yards receiving, but don’t look for much more than that.

Pierre Garcon- Don’t let last weeks fluke of a game get to you, Garcon should not be in your lineups at all this week against the Chiefs.  These two bad teams go up against one another in Indianapolis, and Curtis Painter is still the quarterback.  I think Reggie Wayne this week is due for the huge game before Garcon or Collie.

Tight Ends

Start Em

Greg Olsen- The man the Bears gave away for a 3rd round pick, is developing some good chemistry with Cam Newton quickly.  He’s had a TD in his last two games, and I think that trend will continue this week against the Saints.

Jermaine Gresham- Love Gresham’s size and strength, especially when Dalton gives him so targets.  I like Gresham this week against the Jags, look for him to have a solid day.

Tony Gonzalez- The ageless wonder is having a great season already having 4 TD receptions on the year.  The Packers are struggling this year against the pass, and Gonzo is still getting balls thrown his way.

Sit Em

Scott Chandler- Many picked him up after his week 1 monster day, people may have picked him up who have Antonio Gates.  Chandler has posted 2 rec games in his last 3, and doesn’t get any easier this week with the Eagles.

Jared Cook- Cook is still not getting enough targets his way for him to be a fantasy producing Tight End.  He broke off a long touchdown catch last week, but that still isn’t enough for him to be starting in your lineups.  Consider him a bye week replacement at best.

Dallas Clark- He has been the culprit of not having Peyton Manning behind center for the Colts.  Clark’s numbers are sky rocketing down as many thought they would be with Collins, or Painter.  He has been too inconsistent to start for you now, so if you have someone better I would start them over Clark.

Thursday Night Recap/ Friday night outlook

October 7, 2011 Leave a comment

Well thank god I’m not a gambler, because I said I couldn’t think of someone worse to put out there than Doug Fister for the Tigers, and what do you know he gets the W and moves the Tigers on to the ALCS against the Texas Rangers.  Detroit were led by back to back homeruns in the first inning by Don Kelly, and Delmon Young.  Young mostly known for his altercation with the umpire, where he threw his bat at him during a minor league game, is slowly becoming the Cody Ross of this year’s playoffs.  He tied a Tigers postseason series record with 3 homeruns in the ALDS.  He was pulled in the middle of the game because of a strained oblique in which he said he’ll try to be ready for Saturday if not they do have some depth in the outfield with Ryan Raburn, and Brennan Boesch.

Jim Leyland looked like a genius for not putting in Verlander, which I thought from the beginning they were gonna save him for the ALCS, that is very promising for the Tigers having Verlander most likely available for 3 games out of the 7 coming up.  Jose Valverde stayed perfect again for not blowing a save all year, playoffs or regular season, and I was kind of surprised he didn’t have a bigger celebration after striking out Alex Rodriguez to end the game.

The NHL season got underway with the Flyers topping the reigning Stanley Cup Champions Boston Bruins 2-1, Roberto Luongo didn’t help his cause in Vancouver by having a save percentage below .900 and letting up 3 goals, and eventually losing in a shootout 4-3.  Look for Corey Schneider to take over sometime during this season for the Canucks.

Friday night Previews

– The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Dallas Stars in their regular season opener, the Stars have a new coach in Glen Gulutzan, look for them to play with a passion tonight in Dallas.  I think Jonathan Toews will have his club ready for this one, and look to dominate the first two games of the season as the clubs also play each other in Chicago tomorrow night, in a home and home series.

–  The two NLDS game 5’s are tonight with the Cardinals vs Phillies, and Brewers vs. Diamondbacks.  I would love for both teams on the NL Central to lose tonight so I don’t have to hear all next year when the Cubs face either the Brewers, or Cardinals and they make it to the World Series.  I look for Roy Halladay to pitch the complete game tonight against the Cards, and look for Ian Kennedy to throw a gem tonight in Milwaukee, the young stud doesn’t lose two in a row quite often after going 21-4 this season.

– I will have my Start em and Sit em tonight posted later tonight for Week 5 of this NFL Season, and will have my predictions for all the games this weekend.
